A professional Fine Artist
Chrissie Roodt is a professional Fine Artist. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria, where she graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in 2007. After completing her degree she taught Art at various institutions from 2008 to 2013, during which time she completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of South Africa. She currently lives on a Game farm in the Waterberg, Limpopo, from where she is working as a part-time artist as well as full time Arts teacher at Laerskool Nylstroom.
Chrissie strives to create realistic artworks that captures emotion that combines her passion for God’s creation and Art. Her preferred genre is charcoal and pastel drawings of African wildlife, nature & portraits.
During her time as artist she took part in an exhibition with Fook Factor Interior Designers and sold various artworks, including a bronze sculpture of a miner which was bought by Anglo Platinum and an Etch work of Anton Rupert that was bought as a gift to the Rupert family. She donated two drawings to the “United against Rhino Poaching South Africa Foundation” that was auctioned in September 2015 as a contribution to the movement. In July 2016, five of Chrissie Roodt’s wildlife pieces were included in the Genome Game Breeders Second Annual Auction, which took place at the Sun Carousel. Chrissie was also approached by the Antjie Krog Foundation to act as a contributing member towards their annual fundraising for Autistic Children. She donated a 95cm x 1.25m charcoal and pastel drawing of the famous buffalo bull “Inala”, which were auctioned at the Thaba Tholo Buffalo Auction during September 2016.
Chrissie has completed numerous commission works for various High profile Game breeders throughout South Africa. Some of the works include Buffalo Bull “Inala” – Nuymbu Game, Livingstone Eland Bull “Dawid” – Burkea Wild, 2015 SA Record Lion “Rambo” – Ultimate Game & Predator, Sable Bull “Induna” – Kriek Wildlife Group, Nyala Bull “Yster” – De Dieu Game Breeders & Wildebeest Bull “Victor” – Bona Bona Game Breeders. Other Clients include Campbell Attorneys Pretoria, Romaco Ranch, Langkloof Game Farm, Amatava Game Breeders, Gemstone Game Breeders, Elandsbosch Safaris, Wolwedans Game Farm, Camelot Game Breeders & G10 Beefmasters.
Chrissie also create Custom Design Company Logos. She incorporates her drawings with Digital editing to create one of a kind Logos. Clients include Ballista Arms, Masara Genetics, Klipput Meatmasters, WRSA Waterberg Bedryfskamer, Jacobs Brahmans and Nylstroom Taxidermy.
Her latest venture is EURECA DESIGNS (Pty) Ltd. This Unique Brand consists of Original “Chrissie Roodt” Artworks printed onto a wide range of quality clothing & other items. This brainchild developed with Chrissie’s art career & today Eureca Designs provides a fantastic variety of wildlife designs to the general public & lodges. The name “EURECA” was born from a fascination with the presence of abundant small yellow Butterflies in the bushveld. The Yellow butterfly signifies STRENGHT, HAPPINESS & HOPE through hardship and overcoming challenges. It is a positive sign that all things WILL work out in the end. The Biological name for these beautiful yellow butterflies is [Eurema hecabe] thus “EURECA” – {used to express triumph on a discovery}
